I have co-signed a letter to the Secretary of State for Transport about Avanti West Coast's reduced timetable and restrictions on ticket sales.
The closure of the Stoke-on-Trent ticket office is also deeply disappointing and not something I was consulted on. If so, I would have fought against this decision and I do not believe it to be in the best interest of Stoke-on-Trent residents.
I am very concerned to see that Avanti are not restoring full services, this is particularly due to the reckless actions of rail unions. We are currently fighting for improvements to rail services in the city and just at a time when we are trying to attract people back onto the trains, the actions of the unions undermine all this.
Stoke-on-Trent residents deserve reliable, accessible and fair priced rail services. I will be speaking further with my colleagues in Westminster and continue to outline concerns with the Government until I am confident residents have the services they deserve.
