The children at Sutherland Primary Academy were so excited to finally get out and play on their brand new playground complete with climbing frames, gym equipment and a Multi Use Games Area.
The new playground equipment will transform playtimes and support children’s personal, social and physical development by providing an exciting and stimulating environment.
The different areas will also be used in PE lessons helping to develop the children’s sporting skills, their mental wellbeing and improving their overall learning in school.
Harley (aged 11) said, ‘’ I really like the new playground. It gives us lot to do and is so much better than the old playground.‘’
The playground was opened by local MP, Jack Brereton and attended by local councillor Lorraine Beardmore.
Jack Brereton MP said:
It was brilliant to visit and officially open Sutherland Primary Academy's new multi-use game area which I know will be of huge benefit to the school and wider community. This is part of the schools continued investment in supporting children to engage in sport, helping them to improve both physical and mental health. Supporting our young people to engage in sport is not only important for health but also has been show to be beneficial for wider attainment. I know this facility will be extremely well used by pupils and shows the schools real commitment to providing the best facilities for our young people.
