I learned with deep sorrow of the death of our Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth.
She has been a shining example to all of us who are in public service, of dedication and love towards her people and, more than that, an inspiration to countless millions across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the world.
For most of us, including myself, we have not known a time without Her Majesty, and it is right that we should take time to reflect in the coming days and weeks on the inestimable contribution she made during 70 years as monarch. The world today is greatly transformed from the world in 1952 and the Queen, throughout, has been a beacon of continuity and steadfastness. She will never be forgotten.
On behalf of the people of Stoke-on-Trent South I would like to thank her for her extraordinary lifetime of service and send my deepest condolences to her family who have lost a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
