This week, the UK Government has announced all over-50’s are now being encouraged to book their vaccine appointments on the NHS website. (1)
Over 50’s are the last priority group identified in the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisations’ list (2), meaning the vast majority of people considered “vulnerable” have now received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Across the UK, over 25 million people have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine, with 1.6 million having received both doses. The target is to offer every adult in the UK a first dose by the end of July.
Jack Brereton MP said:
“I urge all over-50’s who haven’t had a vaccine dose yet to book online as soon as possible. The vaccine is proven to be safe and effective, and we are already seeing the effects in terms of a drop in deaths from COVID. We have seen incredible efforts from our NHS workers, GPs and volunteers locally, meaning across Staffordshire we have continue to see some of the highest vaccination rates of anywhere.”
