Local MP for Stoke-on-Trent South Jack Brereton has today urged people aged over 42 to book a vaccine, if they are yet to be vaccinated.
The call comes as the UK passes the 50% mark for vaccinations out of the total population.
Two-thirds of the 44-49 age group have now received a first dose, meaning 42-44 year olds can start applying via the NHS website for their own jab.
Anyone who wants to apply can do so here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/
As supply allows, 40-41 year olds will be able to book their own appointments in the coming days.
Jack Brereton MP said:
“We have made great strides with our vaccine rollout, over 46.3 million doses have now been given and 12.6 million have received both doses, meaning they’re fully vaccinated.
Huge thanks goes to all those who have made this possible our doctors, nurses and volunteers who have been rapidly deploying vaccines.
This, combined with our efforts to lock down, has cut deaths over 95% from the peak earlier this year. We are now able to start re-opening our country.
To ensure we can continue with our roadmap out of lockdown, please book a jab if you are 42 or older, or if you are medically vulnerable.”
