Over the weekend, Jack Brereton MP joined Longton West and Hollybush Councillor Shaun Bennett in the first litter pick of the year, after COVID restrictions were lifted to allow it.
The elected members focused their efforts on Lundy Road, where there have been many complaints about litter. Litter has been a serious problem for as long as there have been things to throw away, but through Lockdown as many people take to parks as the one place they can safely go, the problem has become worse. As we emerge we must make a concerted effort to stop littering and to make sure our public spaces are kept clean.
This is the first of many litter picks coming as a part of the Great British Spring Clean, to start on the 28th May. You can support the spring clean by volunteering yourself here: https://www.keepbritaintidy.org/get-involved/support-our-campaigns/grea…
Keep an eye on Jack's facebook page for future announcements of litter picks if you'd like to help the local team make Stoke-on-Trent a cleaner and more pleasant place to live in.
