Adults and children who have had close contact with a positive COVID-19 case are now free to go around their usual routine as the protection from vaccines replaces the need for contact isolation. Close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases will no longer need to self- isolate if they are either:
- double jabbed
- under 18
Instead you should take a free PCR test- book online, call 119 or visit a test site.
For more information and full advice, please visit Self-isolation removed for double-jabbed close contacts from 16 August - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
I know that residents in Stoke-on-Trent have been getting their vaccinations in order to protect themselves and others. I am so pleased that the success of the world leading vaccine rollout now means that we are able to take another big step forward in our fight against the virus. I would continue to strongly encourage any of my constituents who have not yet had the vaccine to book an appointment. You can do so using the following link: Book or manage your coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
People will be aware that 16 & 17 year olds are also now eligible for the vaccine. They will be contacted when it is their turn and currently cannot book an appointment online. Please see the following link for those under 18 years: Who can get the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
