Jack Brereton MP has welcomed the announcement of further funding for three schools in his constituency of Stoke-on-Trent South as part of a £450 million Government investment to improve school buildings across the country.
Today, the Government has announced it will be investing an additional £456 million into our school buildings, delivering over 1,000 building improvement projects across 859 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools as part of their £1.8 billion investment in the school estate in 2023-4.
Ash Green Primary Academy, Alexandra Junior School, and Alexandra Infants’ School have been named as three local academies in Stoke-on-Trent to receive funding from the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund.
Many of the projects funded by the Condition Improvement Fund will lead to an improved environment for pupils with safer and warmer classrooms - and in some cases, more energy efficient buildings helping to meet the government’s net zero target.
Following the announcement Jack Brereton MP said:
“I am very pleased to hear that local schools in Stoke-on-Trent will benefit from the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund.
Every pupil should have access to high-quality facilities and this investment will deliver the improvements our young people deserve so they can achieve their full potential. Stoke-on-Trent has a pool of talent when it comes to our young people, and it is only right that they receive the same investment and opportunities as pupils around the country.
From speaking previously with Headteachers from Ash Green Primary Academy, Alexandra Junior School, and Alexandra Infants’ School, I know this investment is very much needed and will make a big difference for these schools.”
Commenting on the announcement, Dr Ralf Müller, Headteacher of Alexandra Juniors said:
“We are pleased to hear that our CIF bid application has been successful. The money will enable us to transform previously inefficient spaces into purposeful learning environments.”
This investment comes less than two weeks after an earlier announcement that schools in the Stoke-on-Trent South constituency will receive £2,492,102 in extra funding from the Government’s £2 billion additional national funding towards schools and academies. First payments of this fund were made earlier this month with a typical primary school receiving approximately an extra £35,000 and a typical secondary school £200,000.
